The other day we were laughing about another blog that we read, ISpyShanghai, because he wrote about how their Chinese bank cards were set to expire shortly after they were...
We don't have that problem as we are still just using our good old US cards and withdrawing money as we need it. Yesterday, since our funds were running low, we went to the bank to withdraw some more cash, and guess what we found out? Yes, my debit card had expired as of March/2009. Uh, that could be a problem, especially since the only places that take credit cards here are the Carrefour and the hotels.
Luckily Tina's card doesn't expire until May/2009 - so we've got a few months to figure out if new cards were mailed out and how to get them forwarded to us here in China.

I'm confused. Why can't you get a Chinese bank card? I had one for the three years I lived in China and never had a problem with the card. However, sending money home was a completely different issue.
Carrie,
The issue isn't that we can't get a Chinese bank card, we actually ended up with three bank accounts here. The problem is that we still get paid from the US, directly into the US account, so the only way we can get spending money is to do cash withdrawals on that bank card or wire money...
