We're almost done with our recap of our holiday last month, this will be the last of the posts from the past - tomorrow you can all look forward to a fresh China post...
Ok, so after our stay in Tettnang we headed off to Munich to see another of Tina's cousins - Mario. We met him at the train station and headed off to his home where his wife and daughter had prepared us a nice home cooked dinner.
Dinner was excellent, after eating our first week through thick, heavy, delicious greasy Austrian and Czech foods these home cooked meals were just what we needed. After dinner Mario broke out the hard alcohol, and for some reason Tina's dad was content with a small bottle of Jager whilst the daughter, Marina, went for the full sized bottle...
It's okay though, none of those bottles were finished that night.
The next morning we were up early and this time Mario and Ewa where going to give us a whirlwind tour of Munich. Through parks and around some many different buildings of history we wandered, Mario being an excellent tour guide who both knew what to point out as interesting and when to stop so that we could all enjoy a quick drink...
After a full day of walking we finished up at the Hofbrau Haus (or the wikipedia link), for dinner and some good German biers.
The place was absolutely packed when we got in, apparently there was a big football match (soccer to us North Americans) that evening and a lot of people were filling up with food and drink before heading out to that. When we first got there, since it's all family style seating, the five of us ended up sitting at three different tables. But it wasn't too long before we were able to all sit together and enjoy good bier and a nice pork knuckle.
The next morning we were up and packed and Mario drove us out to the airport. Just 30 hours later, after an excruciatingly painful 5 hour layover in Guangzhou, we were back home in Xiamen. Tina's father staying in Munich for another day before heading back home to Canada, we presume that they went back to the Hofbrau Haus....
